One thing is for certain, these families of Virginia 1600s and 1700s lived and worked amongst the Indians and moved away together  from the battles into the Carolinas and Kentucky for another hundred years.  They prayed together and survived together.

there were thousands of people from foreign countries with very dark features, so who knew which was Native American eh

Our Indian ancestors blended so well with other tribes and nationalities and really became invisible;  they simply became "white" on census records hoping to survive this new world.

She was born 14 MAR 1934 in Montgomery, AL, and died 27 JAN 1992 in Montgomery AL.  

Frankie and Annie were both mixed Indian blood.  They knew it and told us so.

3. Luella Ellen COONFIELD was born 8 FEB 1897 in Benton County, Arkansas, and died 11 MAY 1945 in Kansas City MO Med Hospital. She was buried in Cherokee/Creek/Oak Hill Cemetery, Chetopa Kansas. She was the daughter of 6. Benjamin Wallace COONFIELD and 7. Lattie Cedonia LITTLE.

He died in Grandby MO. She married Homer Gordon CLARK 16 OCT 1934 in Chetopa, Lebett, Kan, son of Bertie CLARK and Bessie Jane SMITH. He was born 1912 in Prosperty Jasper Missouri, and died 1979 in Mesa AZ.  
    ii. Eunice Irene COCHRAN was born 24 JUL 1915 in Masonvalley, Knox, Kansas, Usa, and died 19 MAR 2004. She married Charles Thomas HARAUGHTY, son of Jack EDWARDS and Ida Francis FIZER. He was born 1913 in Labette KS, and died 1956 in Mesa AZ. She married Charles Thomas HARAUGHTY. She married Malloy Thomas ROSS. He was born 1917 in Oklahoma, and died 1981 in Phoenix AZ.  
    iii. Cleo Stanley COCHRAN was born 7 JUL 1917 in Prosperity, Jasper, Missouri, and died 1 FEB 1992 in Chetopa, Lebette, Ka. He married Myrtle Hazel Boze WALKER 25 FEB 1948 in Bentonville AR. She was born 1911 in Mounds, Oklahoma. He married LUCRETIA 25 FEB 1949 in Bentonville, Arkansas, Usa.

    iii. Robert Lee FENN was born 16 MAR 1896 in Thompson, Bullock County AL, and died 1 JUL 1974 in Coosada, Elmore Co., AL. He married MARY. She died in unknown.  
    iv. Arthur Lee FENN was born ABT 1897, and died ABT 1925. He married UNKNOWN.  
    v. Emmett Marvin FENN was born 26 SEP 1898 in Thompson Station, Bullock County AL, and died 10 MAY 1959 in New York.

We know that Jason Gibson was his
cousin and Jason's mother was
Rebecca Broadway...so
Elizabeth B must have been
Rebecca's sister.

So we have her as Elizabeth Broadway.

Charles married Lorena Bozeman
Jason married Ethel Bozeman

son of Charles, Joseph, married
a Georgia Lou Broadway

Jason's daughter Peggy Gibson
married Will Gibson

Cousins married cousins in
Ramer/Dublin Alabama

They all farmed together, struggled
to survive, and prayed together.

Several Broadways signed Charlie's funeral book.

The McClain name varies according to the many
census takers back then and they never acknowledged
anyone who might be Indian Blood because they expected
the Indians to be in Oklahoma Indian Nation.

Josiah Marion McClain left another family behind in Georgia,
so Charlie had many more brothers and sisters there along
with an EX stepmother named Julia America King McClain.

The names Joseph Marion McClain and Alice were on a small
piece of  paper in the family Bible, with "Sunday afternoon"
below it so perhaps they all met and knew each other.

Some say that Julia tried to enroll on the Indian Rolls but was rejected.

We also suspect that Elizabeth was Indian.

Elizabeth Broadway McClain had two girls before Charlie but they did not live long.  Charlie was their only son.

When Josian Marion died, Elizabeth married John Gardner and was known as Betty Gardner.  It is unknown where they are buried in Ramer.  Many burials are now covered with trees and may never be found.

Some homes there still have headstones in their yards.

Charlie was buried by the Dublin Church of Christ but has no stone and there are now many trees growin up around it, so his grave could be in that thicket along with many many others from that era.

Charles Allen McClain had three sons who had no sons and the name ends here.  However, there was one small photo found of Joseph, son of Charles with a young boy named James McClain, that nobody here knew about.

Also about the year 2000 a tornado toppled a tree over a mobile home in Millbrook Alabama and killed a McClain man who was said to be the grandson of Joseph.
